Emergencies
Most problems that arise during orthodontic treatment are not serious emergencies and can be temporarily relieved until you can be seen at the practice.
If a bracket comes loose, a wire becomes uncomfortable, a removable appliance breaks or you have an irritation, please contact our practice so we can tell you what to do.
When a wire irritates the cheek, lip or gum, applying orthodontic wax, if you have some, often reduces the discomfort until your appointment. If you feel soreness or discomfort after an adjustment, eating softer foods for a few days can help. If needed, a usual pain reliever may be taken following standard recommendations.
If a removable appliance is broken, bent or causing injury, it is best to stop wearing it temporarily until you have been advised otherwise. If in doubt, please contact the practice.
